Bitcoin and Ethereum Face Fresh Pressure as Investors Turn Cautious
Cryptocurrency markets remain under pressure as Bitcoin and Ethereum struggle to maintain their recent gains, with investors monitoring global economic uncertainty, technology-stock weakness and the outlook for US interest rates.
A report published on October 25 by Business Today said Bitcoin and Ethereum both finished the October 19–23 trading period lower after giving up gains made earlier in the week.
Bitcoin closed October 23 at approximately $81,164, down around 1% from the start of the week. Ethereum ended the period near $2,387, also recording a weekly decline.
The figures reflect the end of the previous trading week rather than live prices on Sunday.
Technology Shares Add to Crypto Market Pressure
The latest weakness comes as investors reassess risk across financial markets. Selling in technology stocks, rising oil prices and uncertainty surrounding the US Federal Reserve's upcoming interest-rate decision have weighed on market sentiment.
Cryptocurrencies can be sensitive to these developments because investors often reduce exposure to volatile assets when economic conditions become less predictable.
Although Bitcoin initially climbed during the week, the recovery lost momentum as selling returned across risk-sensitive markets.
Bitcoin ETF Flows Send Mixed Signals
Institutional investment has provided a mixed picture. According to the report, US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded approximately $309 million in net inflows over the week, while Ethereum ETFs experienced about $221 million in net outflows.
The difference suggests that institutional demand has not moved uniformly across the two largest cryptocurrencies.
ETF flows are one indicator of investor interest, but they do not determine prices on their own. Macroeconomic developments, derivatives trading and broader market liquidity can also influence short-term movements.
Traders Monitor the $80,000 Bitcoin Level
Bitcoin's price near the end of the week left traders watching the $80,000 level as an important psychological threshold.
A sustained move below that level could increase selling pressure, while a recovery would not necessarily signal that the broader market has returned to an upward trend.
Ethereum is also being monitored as investors assess whether it can regain ground above $2,400.
Neither outcome is guaranteed, and cryptocurrency prices can change sharply as new economic data and market developments emerge.
What Comes Next for Cryptocurrency Markets?
Investors are now looking toward the Federal Reserve's October 28 interest-rate decision for clues about the economic outlook.
The decision could influence expectations for borrowing costs and liquidity, both of which can affect demand for riskier investments.
For cryptocurrency traders, the immediate focus remains on whether Bitcoin can stabilize near current levels and whether institutional fund flows improve across the wider market.
