Bitcoin Falls Below $82,000 as Tech Sell-Off Weighs on Crypto Markets
Bitcoin came under renewed selling pressure on Friday as weakness in technology stocks and rising oil prices unsettled global financial markets.
Bitcoin fell approximately 0.7% to $81,909 in early Friday trading, according to an October 23 report from Investing.com. The world’s largest cryptocurrency remained within a trading range of roughly $80,000 to $87,000 established over the previous month.
Ethereum also declined, dropping around 1% to approximately $2,407, while XRP slipped 0.9%. Solana traded relatively flat, and BNB recorded a modest gain.
Technology Stocks Add Pressure to Bitcoin
The latest decline came as investors reassessed the outlook for major technology companies following a broad sell-off linked to concerns about artificial intelligence spending, borrowing costs, and the sustainability of high valuations.
Cryptocurrencies often react to shifts in investor appetite for risk. When investors become more cautious about financial markets, digital assets can face additional selling pressure alongside technology stocks.
Rising oil prices added to market uncertainty by increasing concerns about inflation and the possibility that interest rates could remain elevated for longer.
Bitcoin ETF Inflows Fail to Lift Prices
Despite Bitcoin’s weakness, spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States recorded approximately $442.7 million in net inflows during the week through October 22, according to data cited by Investing.com from SoSoValue.
The inflows marked a positive change after two consecutive weeks of outflows. However, renewed institutional demand has not yet translated into a sustained recovery in Bitcoin’s price.
The divergence between ETF inflows and price performance suggests that other market pressures continue to influence trading activity.
Traders Watch the $80,000 Level
Bitcoin’s next major focus is whether it can maintain support above $80,000. A sustained decline below that level could increase concerns about further losses, although price movements remain uncertain and depend on broader market conditions.
Investors are also monitoring upcoming central bank decisions, technology company earnings, oil prices, and geopolitical developments for signals that could influence demand for risk-sensitive assets.
For now, Bitcoin remains under pressure as traders weigh renewed ETF demand against uncertainty across global markets.
